Will God Destroy The Earth?

WILL GOD DESTROY THE EARTH?

2Pet 3:7  “But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.”

2Pet 3:10  “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.”

2Pet 3:12  “Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat.”

Many people today believe that it is a myth that the earth will be destroyed. If there really is a God, why would He do something so evil and cruel? This is the very reason why the earth will be destroyed. God honours His word above all else. He already said that if we did His will and obeyed His voice He would forgive our sins and heal our lands. Yet, if we refused to obey Him then we would be destroyed. He said that heaven and earth would pass away before His words fall to the ground. So yes, God is coming to destroy the earth, because we have not followed His words by doing them.

Throughout the scriptures God has sent prophets to warn the people to turn from their wicked ways and follow the ways of God. Way back in the time of Noah God saw the wickedness of man and commissioned Noah to build an ark for the saving of souls. Noah did as God said, he built the ark. The ark was under construction for a very long time. Many people thought Noah was stupid, but he was only doing what God instructed him to do. We are doing the same thing today. So the bible says in

Mat 24:37  “But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”

Mat 24:38  “For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,”

Mat 24:39  “And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”  But God promised that He would not destroy the earth by water again.  So the next time He demolished a city He used fire.

Luk 17:28  “Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;”

Luk 17:29  “But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.”

Luk 17:30  “Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.”

There are some signs which will precede the coming of the Lord Jesus.  These are outlined in

Luk 21:25  “And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;”

Luk 21:26  “Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.”

Luk 21:27  “And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.”

Luk 21:28  “And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.”

If we would open our eyes and look, we would see that all these signs are evident right now. Yes, He is coming back to destroy the earth. Yet He will also come to receive His elect unto Himself. Will you be ready to meet Him?
