ONE HOUSE, ONE WINDOW, ONE CORD

Joshua 2:18-19 “Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father’s household, home unto thee.

And it shall be, that whosoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless: and whosoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him.”

The signs of the times point to the fact that we are approaching the return of Christ. Everything the scriptures foretold for the last days are evident and are becoming more so each day. The above scripture comes from the book of Joshua in the Old Testament. Just like Jesus is going to return, the men that Joshua sent to “spy out” the land of Jericho would return to capture the land. One may consider it strange that these men of God went to seek shelter and counsel from a harlot. But who can know the mind of God? Whatsoever pleased Him that did He in heaven and in earth. It pleased Him to send them to a harlot. God is no respecter of persons, and anyone who will acknowledge him and follow his directives and teachings will be saved.

This harlot, Rahab lived on the wall of the city. Her business caused her to hear, see and know all that was going on in her own city as well as in all the other surrounding lands. She was knowledgeable and aware. She had heard a long time ago, that the God of Israel, looked after His people. Hence, when she saw the men come into her city, she had no better sense than to give them lodging and to protect and hide them from the King’s men who came to inquire about them. She was confident that the destruction of her own city was at hand. Her only recourse was to plead for mercy for herself and her family, at the hand of these men from the God of Israel.

Being the just and faithful God that He is, He instructed the men to tell her that when they returned, all whom she sought deliverance for would have to be in her house and she was to bind the same scarlet thread in the same window she was letting them out off.

Today, we are told that there are many ways to the same God. But this story so clearly points out to us, that all who would be delivered from the destruction of Jericho, had to be in the one house. The same God that spoke yesterday is still speaking today. Have you found that House? Only those who are found in that house will be saved when He returns.
